There always remains an argument for beauty. Art, like fashion, can be cyclical and trendy. Deconstruction of shape and form has been a trend since the late 1800's.
I love Classicism and this painting repesents the end of that highly romantic period of art. There are in here allusions to my favorite artists and influences of the time. Yet, the dance has ended, and the candles are out. Still, the woman is hopeful, looking off into the future.
We are seeing today in art a revival of the past where beauty and the idyllic view are being uplifted and esteemed once more.
