“At the foot of the temple in Bountiful Christ stands with his hands on the head of a boy who kneels before him. Other Nephite children kneel around them, awaiting their turn to be blessed by the Savior”. (15) And when he had said these words, he himself also knelt upon the earth; and behold he prayed unto the Father, and the things which he prayed cannot be written, and the multitude did bear record who heard him.” This piece in particular has a unique and interesting history. This piece was dropped off at an Arizona Deseret Industries (D.I.) donation dock by an unknown individual in 2009. A worker there noticed it and felt that it was something special and brought it to the store manager, David Anderson. Anderson immediately recognized the style as a Minerva Teichert and had a member of the D.I. staff reach out to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to see if they wanted it - which they accepted happily. One of Anderson’s assistant managers then drove the painting up to Salt Lake City to the Church History Museum and dropped it off there. It was then restored and placed into the Minerva Teichert original show at the museum; “With This Covenant in My Heart: The Art and Faith of Minerva Teichert” which opened in July 2023. Anderson was then able to see the original in person in 2024 for the first time since 2009.
